Remitian Rewind 2025: A Year of Progress, Expansion, and Execution

By Solon Angel

2025 was a defining year for both the tax industry and Remitian.

As tax compliance continued to shift toward digital-first workflows, firms faced increasing pressure to modernize processes that have historically been manual, fragmented, and difficult to manage. Against that, Remitian focused on one clear goal: building a seamless platform for both tax professionals and tax payers to simplify the tax payment process.

Over the course of the year, we expanded into new markets, introduced new capabilities, deepened strategic partnerships, and engaged more closely with the accounting and finance ecosystem. Each milestone reflected a step forward towards a simplified tax payment future.

In this blog, we’ll recap everything our team accomplished in 2025 from exciting events to needle-moving launches.

Remitian Launches in the United States - March 11

RECAP: Remitian officially launched in the United States, expanding platform availability beyond Canada.

The US launch marked a significant operational and technical milestone for Remitian. The complexity of US tax payments across federal, state, and local agencies reinforced exactly why this problem needed a better solution.

Key platform capabilities supporting the US launch included:

  • Automated tax remittance to federal, state, and local agencies
  • Reduced error rates through standardized workflows and compliance checks
  • Integration with accounting platforms such as Xero and NetSuite
  • Secure digital audit trails and automated reporting

Remitian Joins the AICPA and CPA.com Startup Accelerator - March 11

RECAP: Remitian was selected as part of the 2025 AICPA and CPA.com Startup Accelerator cohort.

Being accepted into the AICPA and CPA.com accelerator program validated what we had been hearing directly from firms: tax payments remain one of the most overlooked and painful parts of the workflow.

The 2025 cohort included six early-stage technology companies using advanced tools to improve accounting, tax, and finance operations. For us, it was an opportunity to learn alongside peers, gain exposure to firm leaders, and pressure-test our roadmap against the realities of practice management.

Daily and Weekly Activity Digests and Provincial Support Launches - March 15

RECAP: Remitian launched Daily and Weekly Activity Digests and expanded support for provincial tax payments.

Firms told us they wanted fewer surprises and more awareness, so we launched the Daily and Weekly Digest feature, giving firms clearer visibility into client payment activity.

Digest summaries include:

  • Schedules created or modified
  • Processed and upcoming schedules
  • Schedules pending approval or denied
  • Failed transactions
  • New users, bank accounts, and tax accounts
  • PAD setup events

At the same time, Remitian expanded provincial tax payment support, enabling firms in certain provinces to manage provincial and federal tax payments within the same platform.

TaxPay Rebrands as Remitian - June 11

RECAP: TaxPay officially rebranded as Remitian to reflect the platform’s expanded scope.

Originally launched to address tax remittance, by 2025 TaxPay had grown to support a broader set of compliance and payment workflows. That’s why we chose to rebrand to Remitian. The Remitian name reflects the platform’s grown focus on automation, compliance infrastructure, and operational confidence for firms and finance leaders.

While the name changed, the underlying commitment remained the same: building reliable compliance infrastructure for modern tax and finance workflows.

Remitian Integrates with TaxCycle - July 30

RECAP: Remitian launched an integration with TaxCycle.

Remitian launched an integration with TaxCycle, connecting tax filings directly to the payment workflow.

This integration addressed a common friction point for firms: the gap between filing and payment. By automatically syncing tax filing data into Remitian’s payment dashboard, firms can reduce manual entry, eliminate repetitive follow-ups, and move clients through approvals more efficiently.

The result? A more connected tax payment experience. Firms spend less time managing spreadsheets and emails, while clients see a clearer, more organized process from filing through payment.

Launch of BKR TechLab - Sept 2

RECAP: Remitian launched the BKR TechLab in collaboration with BKR International.

Remitian launched BKR TechLab in collaboration with BKR International to help firms explore emerging technology together.

BKR TechLab was built to give firms a safe place to test new tools, share challenges, and learn from each other. The program includes innovation readiness assessments, hands-on testing, and early access to solutions before wider release.

Our Product Engineer, Aaron Gould, kicked off the first TechLab workshop in Madrid, bringing firms together in person to explore AI and automation in a practical, grounded way. Since then, the TechLab has helped participating firms better understand how technology can support growth without overwhelming team

Aiwyn Announces Remitian Partnership at Aiwyn 2025 - Sept 18

RECAP: Aiwyn announced a strategic partnership at Aiwyn’s annual conference.

At Aiwyn’s annual conference, Aiwyn Co-Founder, Tanner Fritz, took to the mains stage to announce the official Remitian x Aiwyn partnership. The partnership focuses on embedding federal and state tax payments directly into the Aiwyn ecosystem. The objective is to reduce operational friction, improve security, and enable firms to deliver a more cohesive tax payment experience.

IRS Announces Paper Check Phase-Out, We’re One Step Ahead - Oct 1

RECAP: The IRS announced plans to phase out paper checks.

At the end of September, the IRS announced plans to phase out paper checks. Remitian was already prepared.

As the IRS moves toward digital-first payment methods, many firms are facing a steep transition. Remitian was built with this shift in mind, helping firms and taxpayers move away from paper-based processes with confidence.

This moment reinforced the power behind our mission and was a push to all firms and taxpayers to finally take the step towards digital.

Launch of the Taxpayer Hotline - Oct 1

RECAP: Remitian launched a taxpayer hotline as a response to the US government shutdown.

On October 1st the US Government was thrown into a shutdown, with a furlough of nearly 35,000 IRS employees following the week after. This left tax professionals and tax payers with many questions: Do we still need to pay taxes? How will I pay taxes? When will I receive my return?

Our team took action fast, launching a Tax Support Hotline so that everyone could get the answers they needed. Sometimes it’s more about the support than the software.

Launch of the Unified Taxpayer Experience - Nov 4

RECAP: Remitian introduced the Unified Taxpayer Experience.

Tax payments has long been defined by disconnected systems and unclear processes. We launched the Unified Taxpayer Experience to bring everything together in one connected experience.

Key capabilities include:

  • Mobile client interface for approvals and tracking
  • Voucherless digital workflows
  • Real-time NSF detection and guided next steps

Every feature is designed to make tax payments for clients simpler, more secure, and more proactive.

Remitian Announces Strategic Collaboration with Aprio - Nov 12

RECAP: Remitian announced a strategic collaboration with Aprio, a top 25 business and accounting advisory firm.

In November, we announced our first-of-its-kind collaboration with Aprio.

As part of the collaboration, Aprio CEO Richard Kopelman joined Remitian’s board. Together, we are piloting an end-to-end tax payment experience designed to reduce errors and add value to client relationships.

“Remitian is tackling one of the most overlooked pain points in our industry, tax payments,” said Richard Kopelman, CEO of Aprio. “By automating and securing this critical process, we can help reduce errors and add value to our client relationships.”

Connecting Face-To-Face - Throughout 2025

RECAP: Remitian attended more than 20 events across the accounting and technology ecosystem.

In 2025, our team attended over 20 different conferences across North America and one global conference. Some highlights included:

BKR International Worldwide: In Madrid, our product engineer Aaron Gould represented Remitian at BKR International 2025, where he led the first live workshop for the BKR TechLab program. The session focused on practical applications of emerging technology and sparked meaningful conversations among participating firms.

TechTO: Later in the year, Larry spoke at Toronto City Hall as part of TechTO, sharing his story on starting Remitian to modernize tax payments and build scalable compliance infrastructure.

Aprio Alliance Summit: We sponsored breakfasts at the Aprio Alliance Summit, creating space for open discussion with firm leaders about operational challenges, client experience, and where tax workflows are heading next.

Looking Ahead

2025 was a year of momentum, learning, and proof. Proof that tax payments deserve a better process. Proof that firms and their clients want clarity, not complexity.

We’re grateful to the firms, partners, and teams who helped shape this year. And we’re just getting started.

If you want to see where Remitian is headed next, we’d love to show you. Book a demo with our team here.
